The start of March saw over 200 skiers stop on our turf on the annual Ski for Life Run, which was on the Adelaide Cup Long Weekend this year. This sees the participants water ski over 450kms from Murray Bridge to Renmark in just three days, to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention.
What a wonderful sight to behold. The skiers ranged in age, the youngest being only 11 months old – very cute!
This was the start of what was an amazing long weekend for us at the Cellar Door.
The weather was perfect and it was great to see so many visitors stopping in, both by boat and car, to celebrate some time away with friends and family. DJ Luke was on hand on Saturday doing his thing to get everyone in the mood, not that it took too much enticement, people were there to just have a good, relaxing fun time.
March saw our tables being booked out consistently every weekend. This didn’t deter visitors though, with patrons taking up spaces on the lawn just so they could come and enjoy our delicious food, sangria and wine whilst taking in the picturesque views on the banks of the mighty Murray River.
On Saturday the 20th we had a new entertaining duo come and play for us and our patrons – Henk Groot & Ashley Turner entertained the crowd with their unique tunes and lyrics.
This same Saturday saw many of our staff absent due to the Waikerie High School Year 12 Formal.
Christine was asked to drive one of our employees, Vaine Guy, to this in one of the Caudos’ Vintage FB Holden Cars. Of course she obliged and it was great to see the car out and about and Vee looking just gorgeous.
The grape harvest ramped up during March, however, the cooler mornings and evenings tended to stall the ripening a bit so it was a stop/start few weeks trying to get the fruit off and delivered.
A busy month that went by in a flurry – we hope you enjoyed your visit if you came this way – if not we hope to see you soon.
