Here at Caudo Vineyard, we are always planning new ways we can create an exciting atmosphere for our patrons. We were especially determined to do so when entering the month of November, which brings an event which is one of Christine’s favourite times of the year – the Melbourne Cup. With this being our first ever Melbourne Cup function, we strived for it to be one to remember.
We organised everything we could to make this a stand-out event. This included a big screen right by the Murray River, televising the race. A large white marquee was set up over our lawn area by the river, providing shade and a ‘posh’ atmosphere. Every table was covered with sophisticated white table clothes. Patrons were welcomed with a complimentary glass of our bubbly Verdelho on arrival.
For guests who chose to purchase the drinks package, they arrived to find a large ice bucket holding our four vodka-based Sangrias, two of our premium white wines, our bubbly Verdelho and our oaky Lifestyles Tempranillo.
Our patrons were treated to a decadent 3-course meal, presented by Salt ‘n’ Pepper catering. For this special event, our Cellar Door bar was also serving refreshing Mojitos and Gin and Tonics, which went down a treat in the warm weather.
Prizes were awarded to the male and female with the best hat. The entire team at Caudos can vouch that this was not an easy decision.
We could not be happier with our patrons’ feedback about the event. They loved the food, drinks and the stunning atmosphere, just like we had hoped.
Our Cellar Door also had the pleasure of hosting the Novita Mighty River Run on Remembrance Day. Members of the river run arrived in their boats and enjoyed a cold beverage in the sunshine. When it came close to the 11th hour of the 11th minute, members gathered to give thanks to the late soldiers. One group member played the memorial tune from a trumpet, which was followed by a minute’s silence.
The Novita Mighty River Run raises money to support kids living with a disability. The Mighty River Run is a five-day trip along the Murray River where people are able to take in the spectacular sights of the magnificent river. There are stops along the way in different towns and homesteads and each night is spent in a different location in the stunning South Australian Riverland. Days and evenings are filled with entertainment and games that everyone can enjoy. We look forward to seeing them again next November.
Although the beginning of November was a busy period for us, the end was quite the opposite. With a Covid lockdown put in place on the 19th of November, the Cellar door was forced to shut. Thankfully, the lockdown ended earlier than expected, which allowed business to get back on track sooner. A new Covid safe plan was implemented and practiced at our Cellar Door, to ensure the safety of our customers and staff. We would like to thank all patrons for cooperating with this.
With the uncertainty of this pandemic, we hope that everyone is doing their best to stay positive and appreciate the little things. We hope to see you soon.
