Where has the year gone??
September came in a hurry and bought a mixture of weather with it. We had our fair share of rain
with some nice sunny days in between.
The Twister Ski Shop once again organised the annual Old School boat run, from Morgan to Caudo. Numbers were down this year due to the rising river. Boat owners were a bit reluctant to take the risk of putting their boats in, but the ones that did had a great time and it was lovely to have them visit our Cellar Door and see them lined up on the banks of the Murray River.
We had our brand new keg system installed at the end of September, which meant we could have all four of our Sangria flavours on tap along with four beer varieties. This proved to be a godsend for
our staff and patrons with the long weekend about to hit.
The long weekend was upon us before we knew it and was certainly a busy one. Mother nature turned it one with the weather and we were booked to capacity on both days. We had one of our favourite bands, “Open Slather” rocking the day away on the Saturday and our patrons made the most of the beautiful weather. Our Sangria and other beverages went down a treat along with our delicious array of food on offer.
On the weekend of the 15th October, we had the Variety Club come through on their Moto Run. Over 100ppl arrived in their stunning cars and spent the day with us enjoying an antipasto platter and pizza lunch.
And this turned out to be our last trading day due to the flooding Murray River.
We had to make the devastating call to close our Cellar Door indefinitely, as our carpark went underwater virtually overnight. For the safety of our patrons and our staff we could not continue to
trade.
We are unsure how long we will be closed, it is a day by day proposition, depending on how high the river comes up and how long it stays that way.
We have been humbled by the outpouring of well wishes from our patrons and friends – thankyou to you all!
